Cultivate Oxfordshire

Cultivate is a cooperative organisation owned and funded by the community. There are many ways that you can get involved. You can become a member to get more involved in what we do or join us as a volunteer. We have previous experience running a market garden on 10 acres of land just outside Oxford on the Earth Trust farm, but now focus on partnering with local growers, producers and farmers to provide the people of Oxford with local, ethical delicious produce via our mobile greengrocer’s shop, the VegVan and our weekly market stops. Our main priority is bringing you the best locally grown produce. Local produce has not only travelled fewer miles to get to your plate but is more diverse and seasonal. Buying local helps us re-connect with where our food comes from and makes for a much more exciting diet. We currently work with over 15 local producers, the majority of which are based within 25 miles of Oxford and we’re constantly looking to forge more partnerships so this number is growing month on month.

Where to find the Land:
Cultivate’s land is based at the Earth Trust, Little Wittenham OX14 4QZ
If you’re coming out for an event or volunteering day, we’re not in the most accessible spot from Oxford (Didcot, Wallingford and Abingdon are closer) – but there are a range of ways of getting to our field.
By train: Take the train from Oxford to Culham or Appleford, from where it’s a 5 mile romp over some fields. Or stick your bike on the train. Return tickets are cheap. [More details and map]
By bicycle: There are a number of cycle routes to Little Wittenham from Oxford, taking around an hour and a half. Click on the link for details of our favourite route, but if you’ve got your own favourite let us know and we’ll put it up online. [More details and map]
By car: The most obvious way to get to us is probably to follow the A4074 south of Oxford. It will take less than half an hour. If you’re coming to an event, we will try to arrange lift shares with other members, so give us a shout a few days beforehand.
