CSA Network UK Open Days - September & October 2018

Events
Our CSA Network UK Farm Open Day is an opportunity for Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) schemes across the country to open their doors to the general public and raise awareness about what CSA is all about. Here are some of the events taking place this year:
Bosavern Commmunity Farm
Harvest Celebration
Date: Sunday 30th September, 12-3pm

Details: Pop-up cafe, a tour of the market garden, a tour of the bee garden, and other activities to be arranged.
Brighton CSA – Fork and Dig It
Information Tent at Apple Day Festival
Date: Sunday 23rd September 11am – 5pm

Details: Come and find us at Stanmer Organics Tent where we will be discussing the importance of Community Supported Agriculture, Soil and local organic, agroecological food production. Refreshments available.
Caerhys Organic Community Agriculture (COCA CSA)
CSA Open Day

Details: Farm walk and apple juicing fun on a mixed organic farm which was the first CSA established in Wales. Bring a packed lunch!
Caetan CSA
Caetan Harvest Party Weekend

Details: We’re hosting workshops, music, dancing and games to celebrate our season in the fields and to raise funds for the next. Camel Community Supported Agriculture
Apple Day
Date: Sunday 7 October 10am-1pm

Details: Free, family-friendly event
- Join in preparing, crushing and pressing apples.
- Enjoy a glass (or more) of fresh juice
- Bring a plastic container to take your share away
- Meet the growers, see what we’re growing and how we’re going about it
- Light refreshments – hot and cold drinks, homemade cake

Camel CSA is a not-for-profit community enterprise producing fresh, seasonal vegetables grown to organic principles. Our weekly veg box scheme provides an all-year-round share of the harvest for more than 60 members. We deliver in an electric van on Fridays around Wadebridge, Bodmin, Camelford and Port Isaac in north Cornwall.

Canalside Community Food

Other important info: sturdy footwear and warm (waterproof) clothing is recommended. Please bring apples if you have a tree / other supply, and bottles to take juice home in.
We are a community benefit society which produces fresh, seasonal organic food for our members from our land, and provides the opportunity for people to participate in the process of growing the food and to enjoy the land on which it is grown
Chagfood
Harvest Festival
Chagfood is a CSA providing 100 boxes of vegetables per week to the local community

The Community Farm
Community Farmer Day
Date: Saturday 6th October 10am – 4pm

Details: It’s our squash harvest! Let’s hope the weather has been kind to our crop and ripened it to perfection. We need your help to harvest the fruits of everyone’s labour. Our Community Farmer Days give participants the chance to come and help out in the fields and actively participate in the work of The Farm. They learn lots about growing and food production, but the events are intended to be sociable and fun too!
It will great to have you along; children are welcome too.
We’ll get the soup and bread in for a yummy lunch and ask you folks bring some goodies along to share too.

Futurefarms – Martin Ltd

Details: Farm tours – meet the pigs and piglets, feed the chickens and see the vegetables growing. Pick your own raspberries.Guess the weight of the pumpkin competition. Farm shop with produce for sale and cream teas in the village hall. Everybody welcome. Dogs on leads.

Farm Gathering
Date: 21st – 23rd September
Details: As the night starts to take over the day we will hosting our first farm gathering. Two days and three nights at Moy Hill farm, Co Clare. Let the food, beautiful music, inspirational workshops and discussions nourish us all. We’d love you to join in. Moy Hill encompasses almost 70 acres of mixed land including a lake, orchard, mini woodlands, pasture and market gardens. Bring yourselves, family, tent and wellies connect with nature and each other

Farmshare Open Day

Confirmed acts so far include: Andy Kirkham and Jonathan Lambert (guitar and sax), Stromm (indie band), and singing duo Off the Cuff with Johnny Lazlo Bencze and Mary Benefiel (guitar and ukulele). Homegrown offerings include a fermentation workshop, preserves table, a presentation from our Chair on ‘The Story So Far’… and more! Plotgate

Details: Farm tours throughout the afternoon.
Plotgate has approx. 4000m of veg beds under cultivation- these are permanent beds with no mechanised cultivation. They are developing a range of human powered push tools to manage the
gardens and use pigs to clear the ground. This is a human scale CSA.
School Farm

Sims Hill Shared Harvest
Harvest Feast

Details: Organised by Pitch Fork Cafe – a harvest feast at Sims Hill showcasing their delicious produce and celebrating the start of the autumn. Dining will be outdoors but under cover (in case of rain..!) If you want to see up close where the veg from this meal is grown then there will be a short guided tour of Feed Bristol from the farmer, free of charge! Please turn up half an hour early to allow time for this. LIMITED SPACES so booking is essential. All vegan. £20 for all courses. All profits from this meal will go towards buying compost to create a no dig growing system on part of the land the Sims Hill manage. Stanford Hall CSA
Harvest Weekend

Details: Join us at the beautiful 14th Century St. Nicholas Church in Stanford on Avon for a Coffee morning and village/community get together, meet and greet. We will be there to chat about the CSA and have a display of the harvest, we’ll talk about what veg we are producing, what to expect in a veg box and how to help us out in the gardens. On Saturday we will be at the Church from 10.30am-12.30pm.

Greenham Reach Open Day

Details: All welcome to come and check out the three smallholdings that form Greenham Reach, leased from The Ecological Land Cooperative (ELC), including Steepholding CSA. Each smallholdings is very different with businesses including medicinal herbs, veg, meat, goat dairy, fruit tree grafting, salad bags, cut flowers & education! There will be CAKE! Farm tour of Steepholding CSA is at 3pm.
