A video update from our Your Farm Your Community Project

Janet, who has participated in our workshops with other Deaf people from their community has created a short film of their visit to Swillington Organic Farm. These visits are part of our Your Farm Your Community Project.
Our Your Farm Your Community project and Feel Good Factor have been working in partnership. Feel Good Factor supports people to improve their health and well being. Based in Chapeltown, they work with communities all across Leeds providing activities, projects and services to improve access to health opportunities for some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged.
Some members of the Visual Impairment group have become regular volunteers at Kirkstall Valley Farm and people from their drop in groups have been enjoying the fresh nutritious vegetables from the farm. Deaf people from the community and the Feel Good Factor Deaf Cafe have participated in the our workshops, learning about sustainable farming and nature, getting some hands on experience of growing, trying out arts and crafts and enjoying being together and outdoors.
This film was made by Janet, who is a member of the group with an interest in photography, it includes pictures taken by other group members. Using our online chat group we worked together to tell the story of our visit to Swillington Organic Farm.
We are very grateful to The JJ Charitable Trust and The Serve All Trust for funding this two-year project, exploring ways to increase access and inclusion in our CSAs. The pilot project is based in West Yorkshire and is working out of two CSAs: Kirkstall Valley Farm and Swillington Organic Farm. We are so pleased that the National Lottery Community Fund has also funded our work in Leeds, to co-produce additional nature activities with members, volunteers and local community groups at Kirkstall Valley Farm and Swillington Organic Farm over the summer, further engaging local communities around the two farms.
