Ben Raskin on successful CSA
Date Published: 3rd October 2019
Ben says: “The success of most Community Supported Farms relies on a skilled farmer or grower at the helm. Many community led enterprises struggle initially to make the transition from successful garden or allotment growing to taking on the larger area needed to feed the farms members. Getting your head round yields, seed and plant numbers, labour needs and machinery options is not easy.” Ben’s session (delivered jointly with Ed Hamer form Chagfood) at our AGM and Gathering will take less experienced growers through these considerations as well as looking at rotations and soil fertility to help ensure your start up CSA farm thrives. If this sounds useful, come along on Saturday 12th October to Gibside in Gateshead to catch Ben’s session and a whole lot more.
