VistaVeg is a small veg grower’s co-operative based in the rural village of Crosby Ravensworth in Eden, Cumbria. We grow high quality, responsibly grown vegetables year round for the local community which we distribute through our veg box scheme. We currently feed 175 families within a 12 mile radius of our fields & polytunnel sites. We lead growing clubs in local schools, host visits to our site from community groups and open our gates to the general public each year for Open Farm Sunday in June and Eden Food & Farming Festival in July.
We aim to (1) be a viable and sustainable enterprise to meet the increasing demand for local produce, (2) serve our loyal and committed box scheme membership and, by example, raise their awareness of the social, health, environmental and economic benefits of choosing local food, (3) collaborate with other local growers, community groups and agencies with an interest in local food production and healthy eating to create opportunities for engagement. Our co-operative currently comprises eight members, all of whom play a vital role in making VistaVeg successful; we are project managers, growers, pickers, packers, deliverers & makers of bio-fuel.
