This webinar looks at topics such as the challenges of growing at northerly latitudes, infrastructure, timing plantings, selecting crop varieties, maintaining variety in veg boxes and storing vegetables.

About the Speakers:
Penny Armstrong
Penny is the Project Manager and Grower at Transition Turriefield, a growing community project based on Shetland’s far west mainland. She has been growing in Shetland’s wild and windy climate with her partner since 2008, and before that, in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and the south coast of England. Penny has a background in project management and community development, skills which have come in useful since setting up Transition Turriefield in 2011.
Dom van Marsh
Currently, Head Grower at Wye Organic market garden in south Herefordshire, Dom’s growing journey started with a 2-year apprenticeship in Biodynamic Horticulture in 2011-2012 in North Yorkshire, after which he spent 2 years working at a veg farm in Fife, then 5 years at a 10-acre CSA in Warwickshire, before moving to the Wye Valley in 2020.
