Land Matching

We are part of a working group investigating the viability of a new Land Matching service for England which will bring new entrants, landworkers, landholders and landowners together to open up more space for farming and growing.

The CSA Network UK, Shared AssetsThe Institute for Agriculture and Horticulture, The Landworkers’ AllianceTamar Grow Local community interest company are developing a regionally-led land matching service backed by a centralised support team and a comprehensive digital platform. The service will forge new land partnerships to support the growth in agroecological production whilst seeking better understanding of land justice issues and inequalities to pave the way for a more productive, fair and diverse food and farming landscape.

An agroecological land-matching service aims to put more land into agroecological farming. The service will do this by matching those looking for land to farm in an agroecological way with landowners for that purpose.

We helped unite over 15 organisations for a two-day meetup in Bristol (August 2023) to determine what a successful agroecological land match service might look like. The group heard from several past and existing and match pilots and schemes and then spent time formulating plans. The next steps are to turn those plans into a proposal so we can seek funding.
