Scaling up: Machinery, site design, irrigation and tools

When you start a CSA there are so many decisions you need to make. Equally, when your CSA is ready to grow many factors come into play.
What equipment will suit your project? How can you make the best use of the space you have available? What tools and irrigation equipment should you buy so you don’t waste money? What is the right size and scale for your CSA? What about the capacity of the people involved?
Pete Dollimore and Rhian Williams were instrumental in establishing and growing operations at The Montessori Place and Hankham Organics, and Kirkstall Valley Farm respectively – successful CSAs and market gardens in very different contexts.
They will speak from experience about important things to consider and answer your questions to help your CSA develop. This workshop is relevant to established CSAs looking to scale things up but also really key for those just starting out to get it right from the beginning and build in the capacity to avoid costly alterations down the line.
Members £10 – Non-Members £12
