Unique CSA opportunity on Hampshire farm

The owners of a South Downs farm are looking for an experienced grower to set up and run an ecological market garden on their land.  Rushmere Farm is a 125-hectare cereal farm in conversion to organic near Hambledon, Hampshire. It is home to a number of small enterprises and offers courses and holidays alongside the farming.

George Crossley writes: “We are offering approx. 1 hectare of land for an experienced, and knowledgeable grower to set up and run a market garden to supply and benefit the farm’s enterprises and the wider community. Access to farm buildings, farm machinery, accommodation, water, and electricity is all part of the offer to be discussed. Support to set-up polytunnels and infrastructure can be provided if necessary.

“The farm currently runs courses, events and hosts tourists. As such the garden will have an immediate small market, which can be extended to Hambledon Village, and beyond. We believe that the community would be very supportive and many residents (as well as the old farmer himself) will want to be actively involved. A lease or license arrangement will be contracted. This is likely to have a small cost to be discussed. If you think that you can set-up and run a business that will provide you with a living wage, whilst bringing joy and good veg to the community, then please get in touch on 07832535933 or george@rushmerefarm.com.”
